MAHD Sports Academy is a national sports institution dedicated to developing elite talent and shaping the future of professional sport in Saudi Arabia. Operating at the highest level of performance development, the academy represents ambition, structure, and long-term vision.
Crystal Arc partnered with MAHD Sports Academy to create a bespoke award that reflected this mandate, translating athletic excellence and institutional identity into a refined physical form suitable for international presentation.
Designing for a National Sports Programme
The award was developed as a contemporary sculptural trophy with a strong vertical composition, symbolising progression, discipline, and upward momentum. The form was intentionally architectural, with layered geometry elements introducing hierarchy and controlled movement throughout the structure.
A transparent central section was integrated to add depth and lightness, balancing strength with precision. MAHD’s visual identity was incorporated directly into the form through restrained branding placement and colour accents, ensuring the piece felt aligned with the academy’s modern, performance-driven language rather than decorative. The overall silhouette was designed to read clearly during live presentation moments, projecting confidence and clarity from a distance.
Brushed Metal and Academy Identity
Material choice and craftsmanship were central to execution. A combination of metal and crystal elements was used to convey permanence, clarity, and prestige, reflecting both institutional authority and athletic achievement.
Careful attention was given to edge refinement, surface consistency, and proportion, ensuring the trophy felt substantial in hand while remaining refined in appearance. Balance and weight were engineered to reinforce its role as a serious recognition object within a high-performance sporting context.
In-House Fabrication and Finishing
The project was designed and produced fully in-house at Crystal Arc, from concept development and fabrication through to finishing, engraving, and quality control. Each stage was managed to ensure precision, consistency, and alignment with MAHD’s institutional standards.
This integrated approach allowed full control over form, finish, and delivery timelines, resulting in a piece that performed seamlessly from design intent to live presentation.
