A Symbol of Sovereignty and Scale
ADNOC is one of the world’s most influential energy institutions, playing a central role in shaping global energy security while driving the UAE’s long-term economic vision. As a national oil company operating at international scale, its ceremonial exchanges and diplomatic gestures demand objects that carry symbolism, substance, and credibility.
Crystal Arc partnered with ADNOC to create a bespoke commemorative piece that reflected the organisation’s identity, heritage, and global relevance, developed for executive-level and international exchange.
Designing a Diplomatic Gift
The piece was designed as a refined presentation object incorporating real crude oil, directly referencing ADNOC’s core resource and legacy. Rather than treating the material as a novelty, the design positioned the oil element as the symbolic centrepiece, translating a raw resource into a controlled, formal object of meaning.
The oil was encased within a precision-crafted housing defined by clean geometry and restrained proportions. A formal presentation box was developed to align with diplomatic protocol, ensuring the piece was appropriate for leadership settings and high-level international exchange.
Integrating Crude Oil Into the Piece
Material selection and craftsmanship were central to execution. The surrounding structure was engineered to protect and elevate the crude oil element, balancing transparency with authority.
Surface finishes were kept understated and formal, allowing the significance of the material itself to take precedence. Weight, balance, and handling were carefully considered so the piece conveyed seriousness and permanence, reinforcing its role as a symbolic representation of energy, sovereignty, and partnership.
Sealing, Setting and Finishing
The project was designed and produced fully-in house at Crystal Arc, encompassing material integration, fabrication, surface finishing, engraving, and custom presentation packaging. This integrated approach allowed precise control over proportion, finish, and symbolic clarity.
Each component was refined to meet the expectations associated with institutional and diplomatic presentation, where detail, restraint, and intent are critical.
Presentation and Protocol
At Crystal Arc, national and institutional objects are approached with discipline and respect. The piece was designed to communicate legacy and continuity rather than ornamentation, ensuring its relevance beyond a single moment or exchange.
Final inspections were completed prior to presentation to ensure accuracy, finish, and formal integrity remained uncompromised.
A Gift Presented Head of State to Head of State
The defining moment came when the piece was presented by Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNOC, to Donald Trump, marking a high-profile diplomatic exchange.
The final result reflects ADNOC’s global standing and Crystal Arc’s ability to translate national resources and institutional identity into precise, meaningful, and internationally appropriate physical objects.
